Day 15: Your Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman

My friend Terri got "Abram" this.....

SO tonight "Abram" got to try it out. There was some stretching so they could learn all the right moves.

Let's just say, I think the neighborhood is safe, at least from Venom...

Day 14 :Cheating

We never said we had to "take" the pics and post, we just said we had to post pics everyday for 30 days right? So maybe I am cheating, but I am tired and I have been yelling at my internet connection for over an hour to connect.....and that leads me to a little inside joke between Kris and I that I am about to let you in on. One of my ALL TIME FAVORITEST MOVIES EVER is.....

And one of the funniest parts is when the "Boy George" character is being booed and some guy yells in a burley voice "YOU SUUUUUCK!" One day when we were in Georgia, Kris was on the phone and he was put on hold for a very, very, long time. We were ridiculously tired-you know when everything is funny- and I said maybe you should yell when he gets back on the phone "YOU SUUUUUUUCK!". And that was it, from then on, whenever someone was being stupid, or we started to complain, we would yell it like this guy. So tonight I have been yelling "Charter, you SUUUUUUCK!" And on a totally random note, my Grandma always yelled at me when I would say that word and say it was a "bad word", so -sorry Grandma, I hope you don't read this blog entry

p.s. It's the second guy that yells it, and then the video gets warped and sounds scary, so beware.

Day 13: A Little Early

I am posting my Saturday pic at little early (but not that early because it's after midnight here now and my blog posting times are never right). But I am posting this because I have to get up at:

in order to get to the alumni retreat on time. Actually I should get up before, but I am trying to get as much done as possible, since I have to get up in 4 hours, yikes!

Day 12:Thought I'd forgotten didn't you?

I made this shirt:

I used to work there (www.peninsulavillage.org) as an Activity Therapist for the Boys Program. I absolutely loved it. Before becoming a mother, it was the hardest and most rewarding thing I had ever done. I still keep in contact with some of the kids I worked with. This weekend I am going back for an alumni retreat. It is one weekend a year that all of the former kids who are doing well come back and get to catch up, while sharing their stories with current patients

Day 11: Storms a Brewin'

So maybe it won't make the cover of National Geographic or Weather Channel due to my lack of cropping, but I love the sky before a storm. I took these from my back porch, it's really cool/scary, when everything looks really green and all. I thought when we lived outside Savannah the storms were bad (because we were so close to the ocean). Nope-Alabama beats it any day. Which is bizarre to me. You know when it's awesome......and really scary and you think about sitting in your bathtub in case there is a tornado? Yah, it's like that.

Day 10: Where a Kid Can Be a Kid......

We went to Chuck E. Cheese today (Abram's first time ever) to celebrate one of Abram's friends' birthday. I didn't take any pics of the playing games time because there were 2 school buses full of kids there too, and let's just say we all were a little preoccupied trying not to have a heart attack keeping up with our kiddos. It was a love/hate relationship of sorts. First Hate-too overstimulating-too many girls high pitch screaming. Then Love-seeing Chuck E. Cheese (on stage, we never got to see him "in person") and the little shows. Then Hate-meltdown when we were leaving. Let's just say we were all tuckered out. BUT After all of the drama (including a kid hitting Abram while he was on my lap!! Don't get me started, let's just say his "teachers" did not even come over as I am grabbing the little kid holding him off. I had to go and get them!! the kid was probably 3 or 4 and thought he was "playing", but it was ridiculous! But I will continue venting about that another time.) I have to post this picture. The birthday girl's mommy brought cupcakes. If Abram were to make a top ten list of the loves of his life (all of his 20 months) cupcakes would be on it. This being said, here is an overstimulated, pizza stuffed, cupcake all gone, ready for a nap Abram (who is in his crib right now thinking the 10 minute power nap in the car is gonna cut it for the afternoon-yah, wish me luck.) Just as a cute "funny" to tell, after I took this picture I started laughing really hard, because c'mon- it's hilarious, and Abram came straight to me and kissed me on the lips and gave me a big hug.

Day 9: One of Our Favorite Places

Awesome playground fully equipped......

With recliner-like swings that Abram almost falls asleep in and screams when taken out of...........

Things you can bang on.........

And for those of you "big boys" who can climb up the back of the dinosaur stairs by yourself......

If You Build It..........

Just thought I would post some pics of the church. It is coming along nicely. Some of you might be thinking it looks very familiar. It is a Krikland style, like the one in Rincon. This building will have a few differences, like a hardwood gym floor, and no pavillion out back. A member of the church donated the land for the new building, he is pretty humble man, so I don't know that he would want me to put his name on my blog. I thought it was pretty awesome myself.

Day 7: "Chubby Feet"

Abram has been doing this funny thing lately. We will be in the car driving and he will want his shoes off. The signal is that he will unvelcro his shoes and hold them out for me to reach back and take them off. Lately when he gets fussy in the car, I will reach back my hand and tickle his feet. He loves it. Not only does he love it, he will lift his feet up, and then put them back on my hand when he wants to be tickled again! He does NOT get this from me I can assure you. I HATE being tickled, especially my feet. I inherited that from my mom (if that is possible). My mom and I both have really high arches and seriously cannot stand when our feet are tickled. And then there is Abram, who has a duck (I posted about before) that we tickle his belly with. Tonight he brings me the duck and sticks out his belly. Little kids are so fun.

So Talented

One of my friends took some pictures of Abram last week. She is awesome (www.tabbyartphotography.com) here is one of the pics. He is counting the grass (okay well he points, and I count). I am so thankful for her sharing her talents, but most of all for being my friend. Abram and her little boy are buddies, Abram loves him, it is the cutest.

Day 5: "Just Playin'"

I am on day 5 of the challange, but here comes the weekend!! Can I survive the 30 days of pictures challange??!?! Fun fact of the day:my little boy is growing up too fast. We went to the park this morning (of course without the camera) and we heard a plane go overhead and then pretended to be one. Both of us, outstretched arms running and making plane sounds. I am getting teary eyed just thinking about it!

Baloo & Mowgli

Challange Anyone?

My fun friend Drea posted a challange on her blog to take a picture everyday for 30 days and post them your blog. So I have accepted this challange, but my camera S-U-C-K-S (FYI we are spelling words around here that we don't want said, even though Abram isn't much of a talker yet, you gotta be careful because he understands EVERYTHING). Soooo, today I am thankful for playdates:

The "Fun" Ball....

I was so excited, I found a super deal on this huge beach ball that is also a sprinkler-how cool is that? Plus, it's been in the upper 90's here so I thought it would be a perfect activity. I thought it was perfect. So Kris almost passes out blowing up this ball and we decide to go outside. I know it's a bit immature (and that you are lying if you say you don't do this) but whenever we get something new, we race to see who is going to be the fun parent that gets to show Abram the new toy. We get outside, and the sun is starting to go down, so it's not as hot as it was (you know where this is going don't you). So I am getting the hose ready and Abram is going through a phase- until a couple of weeks ago he was-FEARLESS. Now, he needs to be eased into things, and explained things, etc. OR he will freak out. Kris, not thinking rationally wants to be the fun parent, so when the water goes on, he grabs Abram and immediately runs full force straight into the cold water, like so:

That's when the screaming starts....and he wants his mama and wants daddy to go away

So I tried to comfort him and ease him back into looking at the sprinkler

Nope, still hating the "fun" ball........

Turns out the "fun" ball was not so fun today, we'll try again......

P.S.

Speaking of "Old School" shows, I just heard on the news (bizarre right?) that they are coming out with a Smurfs movie. Kris had heard on the radio they are also making a He-Man movie. We think it's awfully "interesting" that now that children of the 80's are having kids all of our favorie toys, shows, etc. are making a comeback.

Just For Fun....

What do you think? I think Mulan is awesome. You know I am going to make Kris take this.........

You Are Mulan!
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Strong and spirited. You're no one's girly girl; actually you are very determined person with a strong sense of self. Never let go of that! The only thing that equals your sense of self is your family, but the traditions of society can always be bent to protect something or someone you love.

Which Disney Princess Are You?

That was dumb, Kris is Mulan too. I thought that was going to be more fun. Who did you get?

Follow That Bird!!!

Abram is a HUGE Sesame Street fan (Elmo and Cookie Monster being his favorites), as was I when I was little. I must admit to this day, I enjoy watching it with him. A few weeks ago I was thinking about this movie. I remember my sister and I watching it over and over again and memorizing all of the songs. Have any of you ever seen this? It's funny watching it now, because it was made in 1985 so the cast look really young and un-botoxed. My mission was to find this movie so that Abram could watch it. It must have been meant to be, as I was searching for it through the internet-today I was at Target and there it was for $5.50!!!! So even though Abram went to sleep, Kris and I watched the rest of the movie. It's one of those movies that takes you back and makes you remember being a kid, ya know all of those good warm fuzzy feelings. I LOVE THIS MOVIE! Here is a clip from the beginning to jog your memory (I love that this was on YouTube):

Weekend With Grandma

Kris's mom came to visit us this weekend. We went to the City Fest in a town nearby us. It would have been more fun if it didn't feel like it was 200 degrees outside. So, we ended up spending most of the weekend in the air conditioning. Thanks for coming to visit Grandma Raisor!

Highlight of the Day

I have heard rumors about it, tall tales about it, stories about it, read funny blogs about it........and then it happened to us. After a great day and evening I put Abram in the bathtub and he stands there. I asked him to sit down and he shakes his head no. Then he squats (which he normally does as he eases in the warm water) but not tonight-totally pooped in the bathtub. I am dying laughing and yelling for Kris. Kris made puking noises and was freaking out while he fished it out. I put Abram in a diaper and cleaned out the bathtub with comet. I knew it would happen one day, seriously, it was like he waited all day for this moment. Was that TMI? It's okay, have a laugh on me, it was pretty funny.

Time Out-Supernanny style

Abram had his first "time out" today. Can I just sarcastically comment that I do not know where he gets his strong will, temper, and dramatics from?! Let's start off the day where Abram ate a big breakfast, (note that he is going through a picky, doesn't want to eat any of his favorite foods phase). I am thinking to myself "He is eating such a good breakfast, I don't care what he eats the rest of the day because he has had eggs, toast, and fruit all good for him and healthy." Why did I think that? The rest of the menu for today was um....er.....mac and cheese, crackers, oatmeal and banana bread-awesome. Then we head to the pool. We are having a blast and then Abram decides he wants out of his float. This is fine, I get him out, we play a while and then I decide he needs to go back in. He doesn't want to, I want him to. Have you ever seen those idiots on TV that try and wrestle alligators? Imagine that except that the alligator is screaming and crying. Well I got him in all right only to get him right back out because he wouldn't stop screaming and we were causing a "bit" of a scene. I then thought maybe it was time to go home. I am changing him pool side while covering him with a towel for modesty. He sees a football/beach ball and wants it, so the screaming begins. I am thinking "Can I get on my clothes without him jumping in the pool? Probably not, ugh. So I wrap a towel around myself, grab him, our bag, his float, my keys and we are heading out the door. His nose is running so I wipe it with the towel I am wearing (desperate times call for desperate measures, snot was going in his mouth). So, by this time we are in the parking lot, and that's when it happened-he grabs my towel-and there I am in the parking lot of the biggest sub division I have ever seen in my life-in my swimsuit-for all to see. Now those who know me are reading this and laughing and yet, so sad for my horror and pain. There I was for all of the world to see, stretchmarks, cellulite, oh and did I mention in his struggle he was grabbing my top so that I was also flashing the world? I might as well have been naked people!!!! I have never loaded him and our junk in the car so fast in all my life.
Later that afternoon, we were playing and Abram got angry. I asked him a question and he was holding a car in each hand and he hit me. I grabbed his little hand and explained to him that that was NOT okay. That we are always soft with Mama. Then as I tried to put his hand on my face softly he hit me with his other hand. ohhhh snap, that's when I took his cars and said "we are going to time out". Abram has never been in time out before so he had no idea what is going on. He loses it. So supernanny style I had to take him back 74 times or so. This child is like the incredible hulk I swear. He was so upset, the hyperventilating started etc. I went to take the clothes out of the dryer b/c it was hard to watch and he came to the gate at the kitchen so I could see him crying. When I would try to talk to him he would try and hit again, so back he would go. Finally I just let him lay there on his back and cry. Afterwards he came to me and I said "We have to be soft to Mama." and put his hand on my cheek. He gave me a hug and I had to comfort him for 10 minutes so he would finally calm down. I explained to him how it's okay to be angry and cry, but not okay to hit, and that I loved him very much. I wondered if this was all in vain. I mean this whole episode probably lasted no more than 10 minutes but it felt like forever. So I was wondering if I traumatized him for life and tonight when I was getting him ready for bed I leaned in toward him talking to him and he took his little hand and rubbed my cheek so softly and smiled. Maybe it was a lesson learned, maybe I can continue to hang in there.
You know it's funny because some of you are wondering why I put in these dramatic crazy stories. I guess I do it so that if anyone has a day like mine, they feel normal. I read a lot of blogs where people look so perfect and don't seem real. As much as I like the blogs, it makes me kinda depressed like I am not good enough because I can't do it all, ya know? Anyways, I love my Abram he is the awesomest. We very rarely have days like this. (I am jinxing mmyself for tomorrow aren't I?) This is the first summer in a long time that I am excited for summer time, even if it is in the 90's and the first week of June. There is so much to do! Festivals, Movies at the park, new friends, the 4th of July (one of my favorite holidays), it'll be awesome.

SO Excited!!

Since I have moved here, I have wanted to join a playgroup. I have looked them up, asked around, etc. Nothing seemed to be working. There was a lot of interest, but nothing ever happened. SO I decided I would start one. We had our first playdate on Monday. There were only 3 of us moms but we were all so excited that we were actually doing this. I am so happy that Abram will have some litte friends to play with. Little did I know, that he would take the BEST nap afterwards. Needless to say I am really excited for this summer, and hopefully I will get to post some pics of him and his new little friends!
