Splish Splash I Was Taking A Bath

Funny that they were having way more fun before I put the toys in the tub.

I think a successful bath time is when the boys look like prunes and there is as much water out of the tub as in.
I needed to mop the floor anyway.

P.S. If you click on Reese's picture to enlarge it, you can seen his two bottom teeth that have cut through his gums.

A Photoshoot With Boys......

...never turns out how you picture it (pun intended, Abram's face says it all).

Battle of the Wills

Probably everyone has that they they deserve.  You know what I am talking about........karma.  As I type his I am imagining my mother reading this, and grinning.  Let me introduce this one to you, who we affectionately call "The Monster".

Case in point

Someone didn't want to eat their chicken nuggets last night.  Normally this wouldn't be a big deal, except for the fact that they are a SUPER picky eater.  It happened right after the age the age of 2.  Before that he would eat anything you put before him.  Since then his menu choices have been dwindling.  He will make himself so upset that he will throw up-lovely.  The pediatrician said that he won't starve himself, so to keep offering the same thing, and he will eat when he is hungry.  I was kinda chicken (pun intended) to do it, thinking he wasn't old enough-wouldn't understand, etc.  Well I am past that now, as his food choices only consist of 4 things right now.  SO last night was the last straw.  Chicken nuggets used to be his favorite food.  So I offered them to him, he refused to eat-so he hasn't ate since.  Now I am feeling guilty-because I offered them for breakfast, and he refused. In an hour it will be lunchtime and he still refuses to eat the chicken (mind you that it is not the same chicken, I heat up "fresh" ones).  Ugh, I know where he gets this defiance....

and for the record, I won't name names-lets just say he gets it honestly.  So there he sits, telling me his belly hurts-but won't eat the nuggets.  I even threatened to not let him watch his favorite show this morning, it didn't matter.  All of the "threats" I have to follow through, ugh!  What's a mother to do???

Update: He "lasted" until 12:30-which really isn't true.  This hyper child laid on the couch for 2 hours with his blanket while Reese and I played , not playing and telling me his belly hurt.  He looked miserable.  I explained why it hurt-because he needed to eat something so his body would have energy etc etc. He said he just wanted to go to sleep after crying non stop.  The child hadn't even had anything to drink since yesterday.  Mommy guilt set it and I convinced him to take one bite.  Seriously I think I am giving him post traumatic stress disorder or something.  He ate one bite, and swallowed it......and threw up on his plate, and then completely lost it.   This is not worth it.  So I caved, and made him a peanut butter sandwich.  It's not like he eats junk food all the time, he eats vegetables etc.  He just doesn't like meat for some reason.  Seriously, I don't want this to be an issue-i just worry about how it will end up in the long run.  I just kept sayng to him, "Why are you making this such a big deal?" Which could have been reflected back at me.  Little does he know his karma is being built as I type. Advice????  Anyone with picky eater children???  HELP ME!!!!

9 Months

Can you believe this little stinker is 9 months old today???

It seems just yesterday I was an enormous pregnant woman.

The Reese-miester is cutting his first tooth-or teeth I should say since he seems to be cutting the two bottom ones at the same time.  They haven't cut through yet, but you can see and feel them.  It's been pretty hard on him, and his Mama.  He is still the happiest and most loving baby you have ever met.  Reese is also getting a little possesive of whatever he is playing with, and still thinks Abram is the greatest thing since sweet potatoes. His fun loving personality is developing more and more each day.  We love you so much Reese Piece!

Sarcasm....

I love teething.  It's probably one of my favorite things ever.  You know, like when your angelic ALWAYS happy baby turns into the whiny monster and cries all day unless he is asleep, except that is a rarity unless doped up on Tylenol? Or like when he is finally cutting a tooth-no wait two teeth at once!

It's almost as good as realizing that it's been almost 9 months.....maybe I should start trying to lose the rest of this baby weight......or go eat some chocolate instead.

I am such a whiner, WAH WAH WAH!  It must be rubbing off on me.

Oh the joys of motherhood-it's a good thing it's all worth it.

Mother of the Year??

Here was the plan, get some bubble bath and have fun.  So I bought some baby bubble bath, and filled up the tub.  The boys LOVE bath time.  And what goes better with bath time than bubbles......or so one would think.

It started out well enough, there was even some (gasp!) sharing going on.....

there were sweet bubble heads...

 even some afro bubbles...

when suddenly Reese started to throw up.  And proceeded to do so until midnight when there was nothing left to throw up.  Not only was it vomit, it was bubble vomit .  As in, he would open his mouth, a huge bubble would come out, then sudsy vomit (yes, like a cartoon).  Apparently, while chewing on the bath toys, he ingested a wee bit too much bubble bath water.  This little muffin was the saddest, and so was his Mama.

Moral of the story?  No more bubble baths for Reese-ever.......or at least until he stops chewing on bath toys.  You should probably postpone sending in my application for the award.....

More Snow!!

We had more snow.  While Reese was asleep, Abram and I went out to play.  I heard some honking from above and saw this

it made me laugh out loud, if I were the leader of the geese-I'd be watching my back if you know what I mean.

This is what your sweet son looks like after he forgives you for your poor aim when you accidentally pelted him in the face with a snowball (yes, it was an accident-and yes, I felt awful-even if it was kinda funny).

YAY!

Just so you know, I have accepted the fact that just about every video I make will have some sort of laundry propoganda in the backround.  Other than the stoner face this video seems to stop on, it's the cutest trick he's been doing for a couple weeks now, but finally caught on video.

Somebody's Growing....

I forgot to post that someone was getting a little too big for this.......

In fact, you can see that his legs are bent and still hanging over (not to mention he is over the weight limit).......

SO we went out and got one of these.....

The funny thing is, I bought it for the comfy soft inner layer-however, due to his size-we had to take it out.

But as you can see, in his first "big car seat" ride, he didn't mind a bit.

I was worried that someone might be jealous that his little brother got a big "present" and he didn't.  But little did I know, I did have an even bigger present for him, a new clubhouse, which he made his Daddy get inside.  And Kris happily obliged.

Reese was even granted permission to enter.....

(yah, sorry about the undies-according to Abram, wearing "just legs" allows him to run "super fast")
Instead of trying it myself, I prefer to just trust him on that one.

Weekend Check List

1.  Go to the aquarium, check.
2. Abram has an accident in his carseat. check
3. Try to change Abram really quickly in the back of the car because it's FREEZING outside and pull off his shirt so fast that somehow he gets a strawberry under his eye. check.
4. Make sure to get annual passes so that he can not only look miserable because he wants to look at the fish instead of getting his picture I.D. made, but that he looks like you punched him in the face. Check, check.
5. Find what you think is a secluded spot to feed your baby baby-food, where you are sitting against the aquarium as he is in the stroller.  Make sure you time it perfectly with a dive show, so that while you are in mid-feed the crowd gathers around you and your baby because you are on display and annoying guests that they can't see the diver because you are sitting in front, facing them. Check, double check.
6. Try to play it off and go meet your husband and oldest son in the dark-making sure that you roll over many hands of people that are sitting in the floor for the show and bump people in the back with your big honkin' stroller all the while getting dirty looks as you very slowly due to the crowd volume, move in front of the dive show guide. Check, check, and check.
7. Tantrum before leaving. Check.
8. See your muffin nephew and hold him while he sleeps like a little angel. check.
9. Watch your son as you think he is going to lovingly stroke his new cousin's head, but insted gives him his first noogie (sp?). Check.
10. Make sure that someone poops in the bath, and find it AFTER their bath is done because your oldest picks it up and says, "Mommy what's that?" Check.
11. Convince your hubby to bleach the tub and toys.  Check, check.
12. Take your oldest to his first Sunday School Class, because he is officially a Sunbeam today, and not in nursery anymore. Check.
13. Try not to cry when he tells you he doesn't want to go. Check.
14. Go see old friends and have lots of fun. Check.
15. Make sure oldest has BIG tantrum when leaving. Check, double check.
16. Make sure "someone" poops AGAIN in the bath tub. Check.
17. Bleach AGAIN. Almost check......ugh.
18. Make sure that the oldest child runs to get something and slips on wet wood flooring and falls head first to ensure a goose egg on the forehead above the strawberry as stated above. Check, check, check.
19. Let child stay up an hour past his bed time to make sure nothing is wrong with his head, because he hit that hard, and you are that paranoid. Check.
20. Have oldest flip over you while you both are on the couch, making sure that his rock solid head hits your nose precisely on the bridge, and end up comforting him more than getting comforted yourself, because he is so upset he hurt you. Check, double check.
21. Dread making an appointment for the youngest with his never ending ear infection, because the doc may wonder what has been happening to the oldest. Check
22. Stay up too late to blog about it. Check.

Wiping the Water

We were all watching a movie tonight when Abram spontaneously decided to do a flip over me on the couch.  In doing so, his head hit my nose......hard. I grabbed my nose waiting for the blood to come (which never did) and started to cry.  It really hurt and your nose is one of those sensitive places anyways that just makes the tears come.  Abram immediately started crying and screaming too.  I thought he had hurt his head until he started saying really fast without stopping, "Mommy, I love you so much, don't cry Mommy, I love you so much," then he sat on my lap wiping my face.  "Mommy, I am wiping the water (tears)! There's no more water, stop cryng Mommy I love you so much! It's all better!"  It was the sweetest, most pitiful thing ever.  The worst part, other than the pain was that it touched me so much what he was saying that I couldn't stop crying.  My sweet little monster, I love him so much.
