Road Trip for Isaac's 1st Birthday

My nephew turned one the day after Christmas. We decided it would be "easier" for us to drive up Christmas day-not as much traffic, we wouldn't have to bring as much with us (we were bringing Obi too, so the more room we had the better) etc etc. Little did we know about the record breaking snow that would fall on us all. the. way. there. Seriously, I had to giggle at the forecast-of course they were wrong, they are ALWAYS wrong when it comes to snow predictions. They get everyone in a tiz going to the grocery store, etc. But we would be just fine.....or so I thought. We ended up leaving that morning, got about half an hour out when it started to flurry-"ahh, that's cute" I thought. But it didn't stop, and it started to fall faster, with thicker snowflakes, and we still had 5 1/2 more hours to drive and I got a little nervous.....

As you can see, so nervous it made me have 8 chins...but it wasn't that bad yet.

The first wreck we saw.  And please note we were going between 25-35mph, well most of us that aren't idiots.

Big Rig that jack-knifed...

We played "Count the snow plows that are only on the other side of the interstate" game. Eleven in case you were wondering. We did not see any on our side.

Finally got to a rest stop, where there was a family making a very large snowman. Had a super quick snowball fight.....

Took one look at the roads....

And decided we needed to bust it.  It was nerve wrecking driving through it, especially when a big rig pulled off the exit beside us and covered our windshield completely with snow so we couldn't see until the next wipe of our wiper blades or the fish tailing-yikes! But I have to say-it was absolutely beautiful.

And totally worth seeing this sweet little fella...(don't you just want to squeeze him and smooch all over his face?! I do, and did.)

And only giving moral support as my sister made her son's first birthday cake all by herself for his winter "one-derland" party...look at that concentration!

And I'm not naming names, but somebody loved it, and might have ate a little too much...you might be able to tell from the little stuffed chipmunk cheeks.

Isaac worked the room in his birthday shirt that his FAVORITE Aunt made him (uh-ME of course!)...

Opened so many presents, he had to take a break and get a drink (seriously)...

Issac is so popular even Santa decided to stop by after a long night's work just to say happy birthday...

After the party, some of us chilled out....

We had so much fun, it made the ride home with the added 2 hours.....

Christmas 2010

We had a great Christmas this year. Both Abram and Reese were old enough to be super excited. Santa brought them a train table, and many action figures for Daddy-I mean them to play with. This video is classic:

I love this picture of Kris (which he will probably not love). He was really that excited over the superhero action figures.  Abram's list consisted of a Night Fury (How to Train Your Dragon), Hiccup (from same movie), and an Iron Man. I need to treasure this year when his list is so simple. Reese has been loving trains and cars-hence the train table which Santa found on Craigslist and fixed up-(Santa loves to reduce, reuse, recycle you know). We had to actually wake them up-because we were heading to Tennessee that morning. But that is the next story. 

Two Dollar Tuesday

I am trying to get caught up before the New Year. That being said, last week was "Target Two Dollar Tuesday" at a Children's Museum in Raleigh, so we loaded up the kiddos and met some friends. The kids had SO much fun. This is going to be picture overload, I was going to do a slideshow, but now I regret doing them on my blog because when I print it out-you can't print movies or slideshows.

There were animals (and a fire truck equipped with dress up clothes).



A treehouse with "action figures".

An ocean room where you could catch wild dolphin and pet them.





We caught some sweet waves.




Played some hockey.



And a ball machine...



...that Reese held his own when the big kids came along.




We made some pizza.

And built some cars, then raced them.



Just looking at the pictures makes me tired. I didn'teven get pictures of a lot of the stuff we did-because let's face it-I wanted to play too. It was a great night with great friends.

Well Check

The kiddos went for a well check on Monday. Reese was for his 18 month check (2 months late) and Abram for his 4 year (3 months late). Here's where they are:

Abram weight: 37 lbs 6oz
            height: 40 1/4 inches

Reese  weight: 29 lbs 6oz
            height: 34 inches

The doc said Abram was at least at a Kindergarten level.  He also said that if Reese continues to grow like he has been he will be a good 2 inches taller than Abram.  Abram is predicted to be 6'1-6'2. Kris's response was a nervous laugh and said "I guess I need to start working out."

Puke-a-polooza

I don't know if it was a bug, or food poisoning. All I know is from Friday night to the wee hours of Saturday morning the boys and I were BFF with the toilet. And Super-Kris was running in between bathrooms and making 2:30am runs to the grocery store for Pedialite, Gatorade, and Ginger Ale. He was truly our hero. He usually doesn't cover the grose stuff-he has a bit of a gag reflex when it comes to that sorta thing. He was amazing-seriously. SO that was Friday, this was Saturday...

All day movie marathon-I had to take a picture because the boys have never been that still for that long together. They were pitiful, nothing worse that sick kiddos. Today we have all felt better, thank goodness!

The Explanation....

Here's the thing......if you are wondering why you have yet to receive a "Raisor Family Christmas Card" complete with a "happy beautiful children" picture on the inside-let's just say we tried.  I decided before I got my kids dressed in their green and red, I would do a practice round, to see if it would be worth the drama....without further a due, the top 6 reason reasons there are no Christmas cards this year......

You have the picture where one knows what a bribe means, and the other doesn't....

The one where you try to explain just one smile and they will get the candy cane-but it's still not making sense to the youngest why you are waving it in front of him, but not giving it to him... but your pretty thankful since all happy children Christmas pictures would not be complete without a dog bowl in the background on the porch.

 Yes, Reese you have no idea how close I am to joining you at this point.

Oh wait, I think Mom is going to try and make funny faces.......

but they aren't funny......(Abram is giving me a pitty laugh)

I think they are actually trying to imitate me in this one, let it be known I was making more effort than having my mouth hang open.......
