First Cereal, and Getting Rid of the Mullet

Today was a big day for the Reese-miester. He had rice cereal for the first time, and got his first haircut!

I have been debating on whether or not to do rice cereal with Abram. I have several friend who skip that and go with avocados and veggies, then fruits, then grains. I am worried because Reese has issues with being a little "stopped up" already how the rice might effect him. SO I bought some avocados. But then I got really excited and gave him the cereal. I will probably do both this week depending on how he does.

He was really funny. He liked it okay, but he kept trying to grab/hold the bowl. This was funny because Abram (when he had his first cereal) kept grabbing the spoon/my hand and bring it to him. I tried to get Abram to take a video, but he thought I meant a picture so he kept saying "Say cheese!" and pushing the button-which kept turning it off and on-you see my dilemma. Without further ado, I give you Reese's first cereal experience....

(yes we are still doing the "deer in headlights" face)
(I am having difficulty downloading the videos, so this one will have to do)

Now regarding the mullet......now don't get me wrong, I rocked the mullet in the 90's-I'm not proud of it, but what are you gonna do when you have crazy thick hair and it's the 90's? I still gasp at the photos when we go to my grandma's house. Why didn't I know about the flat iron?!-That is a venting for another time. The pictures of his mullet don't do it justice. The bottom was not only thick and starting to curl on the sides, but a different color than the rest of his hair.

Judge me if you must, but I am not letting my adorable little boy grow his hair out to be the Mayor of Whoville. I just can't do it. I busted out the clippers while Abram was in the bath so that I could put Reese right in immediately. I will post "after" pics tomorrow. A haircut and a bath wears a little boy out-so he is off to dreamland.

"High Five"

This is a random story. So I am in Old Navy, cruising the t-shirt section and this girl who works there looks at me and says very enthusiastically, "Can I get a high five?" (and has her hand in the high five position)and I looked at her and said, "Excuse me?" and she repeated herself without losing the enthusiasm, "Can I get a high five?!" And I say with the same amount of enthusiasm, "ABSOLUTELY!" and we high five. Then she says, "You see these t-shirts? A while ago this was just a huge pile of shirts and I folded every single one, and I needed someone to share the enjoyment with me." to which I replied, "You rock, it looks amazing." And I walked off. I giggled to myself because it was so random, and then I thought, "I guess I look like the kind of person you can spontaneously high five." and I am okay with that.

Not Just Yet.....

We aren't moving as soon as we thought. And that's all I have to say about that.....because that's all I know. Details when I get them, but on a totally random note-can I just say that I went to the grocery store tonight, and it was chilly outside? I. LOVE. FALL.

Memories

I wonder about how much Abram will remember from this time in his life. His memory is starting, he recalls things from months ago, and if you tell him you'll do something-he will not forget it.

We have had some simple kind of fun the past two days. Yesterday we went for a walk, and splashed in every single puddle we saw. And got wet, really wet. It was really fun, in fact if I had my camera-we would have won America's Funniest Home Video award. You are going to have to picture this: we were walking around a rec center area-so it was paved the whole way. There was parking spaces on a slight downhill slope, so it made one really long puddle. We told Abram to go for it. There he was running, splashing, and laughing. We were about 10 feet or so behind him when he fell into a pot hole. It was covered with water obviously, and about 5 inches deep. He fell right into the water, jumped up with this scared, sad face and it took everything in me to hold in the laughter. I gave him and hug and told him that that must have been scary. I asked if he was all right and he replied with a very pitiful, "yes". And on we went. We decided to only jump in "clean puddles" (named by Abram) which means you can see the bottom of the puddle, as opposed to "dirty puddles" which are muddy.

Tonight we packed our first box

while wearing bunny ears we found, you remember, the ones he would not touch on Easter? Yep, he wore them the whole evening and is currently sleeping with them on as I type. I had to make pipe cleaner bunny ears because he insisted that I was the Mommy Bunny and then Abram decided I was a lobster instead. We wore our ears while we packed the first box, after doing the "mac and cheese dance" and then breaking it down to some Jack Johnson. I hope he remembers, above all how much he and his little brother are loved. I know that moving is going to be hard for him this time around.

We are moving, next week. We are waiting for some details to come through for our next assignment (that sounded so 007 didn't it?), so for the next little while we'll be crashing at Grandma Raisor's house. I am not sure she realizes what she's in for, but we are so grateful that she has offered to put up with us. Details will come as I find them out......

Brothers

Blame It On the Rain

You know you just started singing (well maybe not you young whipper snappers who have no idea what the title is about).

It has been raining, and raining, and raining......and raining. And because we have been sick, and it has been raining we have been watching way too much TV. I hate it, it makes me feel yucky and guilty. And Abram hasn't been sleeping well because he hasn't been getting out all of his crazy, hyper, energy.

I decided today would be different.

SO we played in the garage.

We played hopscotch...........

We jumped in puddles........

I gave Obi a bath.

Abram rode his bike.

I brought out the sprinkler and tried to get Abram to run through it with me, he wanted a gogurt instead.

I think it worked well considering everyone was pretty worn out.....

NO WAY!!!!!

I can't believe no one told me about this:

Adamant

about what, I don't know. This is Reese's new thing, no more sweet coos and babbling-just outright screaming. I don't know what this is all about.

Oh and one more thing, please notice how messy my living room is with kids toys and never-ending laundry, thanks.

Some Detective Work....

Let me start off by saying that I truly believe in spoiling your kids when they are sick. When my kids are sick with their pitiful little sunken-in eyes, and their pitiful little faces, with their little coughs, and just laying around because they don't feel good, they can get pretty much whatever they want.

Especially when they aren't eating. Abram-you could tell- was losing weight because he wouldn't eat because his throat hurt, so if he felt like eating anything particular I would get it for him.

Thankfully they are not yet aware of the manipulation this could allow them.

Or are they....

and by they....I mean he.

You see Reese totally gets out of this one. Being almost 5 months and all, however my oldest (and Reese as well) are thankfully feeling a lot better. In all of the sickness we have had in our household, something has happened.

SOMEONE has taken my sweet and polite Abram and replaced him with a little whiny booger who thinks all of his needs should be met immediately, and if not, it's as if a tornado of fury occurs with all of the weepng, wailing, whining. SO I became desperate and sought out to hire a detective.

I will admit, he looked a little young, but he had a mustache-and don't all good detectives have mustaches?

He was perplexed. Who would want to take my sweet little boy and replace him with such a ball of fury?

He even called in his assistant....

Although super cute, he was equally confused.

So there you have it, a great mystery in our house. I am hoping (and praying) that my sweet almost three year old will come back soon and this alien will leave, but only time will tell.

He Got It

......we knew he would.

Weekend Update and Trivia Question......

Took the boys to the doc today-that's right boys as in plural. The seal bark coughing subsided, but the cough and fever still there. I was up with Abram from 1-3am and Reese from 3ish-5am. I had to be worked in, so we waited forever in the waiting room. Abram tested positive for strep. SO scratch that--I. HATE. STREP. Reese tested negative, however he is definitely sick, and definitely threw up almost an entire bottle on me an hour ago. What is more pitiful that one sick little boy? A sick little boy and a sick baby. -WHICH can I just say that the sick baby at 4 1/2 months weighs 19lbs 10oz!!!!! That wasn't the trivia question, by the way. SO without further suspense, for all of you trivia lovers out there, I pose this question:

I was told to keep the boys separate and not to let them touch/handle the same things, obviously so that Abram wouldn't pass along the illness. Knowing that they are brothers, and live in the same house, and will be extra pitiful wanting to cuddle with the same mom-how is this going to be possible???? Any ideas? Maybe it's not a trivia question, but more like a riddle??

Weekend

I. Hate. The. Croup. Abram has it, he is extra pitiful. Thought we were going to have to go to the ER last night, instead we sat out on the porch at midnight eating popsicles. Urgent care is not open on the weekends. We are doing all home remedies and will be seeing the doctor tomorrow. My poor little guy. Stupid croup.

Not that I am a stalker or anything...........

....but there are certain blogs that I L.O.V.E. and this is one of them. I want to be her friend, and I am serious. I am friends with two of her sister in laws, does this count? Anyhoo-she is doing a giveaway, and to get two entries, you have to link her up. SOOOO even though this may ruin my chances, because you are going to want to enter, a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do to get the goods. Here it is, and when you see her blog, you will want to be her friend too! Click here.

Just in case you were wondering........

To answer a few questions you may be wondering....

1. Yes, we are still alive.

2. I have had my hands full and yes, I have been neglecting my blog. Sad, but true.

3. If you were wondering what is on Reese's forehead (his little red strawberry), no-Abram has not been left alone with him as many have thought. It's a hemangioma (click on word) which is a fancy pants word for birthmark. Might get bigger, should fade. In the meantime, I think it's pretty cute.

4. Remember when I started potty training Abram oh, almost 4 months ago? Some days are awesome, some days I am cleaning poop piles/pee spots off the floor or out of underwear. Kind of like a cat or dog, he frequents the same spots in the house, bizarre. Yes, I think this is going to be the death of me. Some days I feel like I should have photographic evidence for the purposes of guilt or blackmail.....I haven't, but the thought has crossed my mind. I love Woolite carpet cleaner.

5. Yes, our job is winding down, and no we have no idea where we are going. Yes, this is a stresser. Times are hard, which plays big time on the construction industry. We have been very blessed to be able to have a job, and are very grateful in times such as these Kris still has a job.

6. I have heard so many times, but still can't get over how fast Reese is growing and how it seems as though he is doing everything a lot faster than Abram did. Yes, he still melts me.

7. Yes, I am still hating (ok, may I should use the words "strongly dislike") people who can drop baby weight quickly. Yes, maybe I am a little bitter, and yes this is why you do not see many pictures of me recently. I'm working on it. And yes, it sucks.

8. No, I haven't found what the smell in the kitchen is yet, ugh.

Hmmm, I think that's all for now, any questions?
