The Reesemiester is THREE!

On April 22nd my baby turned three. I can't believe it. I mean, three is big. I remember (I have said this before) being pregnant with him, and missing him. I would be driving in the car-and just miss him, which was weird because he was-ya know, in my belly. I felt it often with him. I was a mess in the hospital, because of his lung issue, not being able to hold him for 8 hours or so-I was crying/crazy hormonal so much, my nurse said if her boss said no again, we'd just wheel on back there anyway. He has always had a strong personality and is stubborn beyond belief. I will never forget when we lived at Kris's Mom's house I would set up huge (filled) rubbermaid containers and furniture to block off areas he wasn't supposed to go to. It didn't matter-if he needed to get through them, he would crawl over and head first push his way through. Once he puts his mind to it, you almost have no other choice.

As ornery as Reese is, he is just as sweet. He has also been my biggest snuggler. For the first couple of weeks after he was born, he slept best on my chest, and I loved it...however-he started out 8lbs 10oz-and grew rapidly, so it didn't last for long. He would wake up in the middle of the night with teething/nightmare and he would lay right next to me usually forehead to forehead and fall fast asleep. Even now, when he wakes up in the morning and comes in our room, he'll walk up to my side and say, "I need to cuddle you!" and hop right in, super close and cuddle for a little while. These moments make my heart swell and makes it harder to remember the times when he would pull my glasses off of my face, or the tantrums he would/will throw-always in public, and the lack of volume control he still has. I remember him being lttle and trying to go to story time at the library when we lived in North Carolina, I had to leave because he was so loud humming the Batman theme song at the Spiderman picture they had on a shelf.

I was looking back on my blog and I found a video-it cracked me up because his personality is the same-if you know him, you have to watch it (press play twice). And if you can stand it, watch it til the end because he laughs..can't load for some reason, so click here.

Reese is LOVING Star Wars, so that's what we did. Completely with an R2D2 cake. As a side note after watching the three older movies over and over (and over) again-might I say that R2D2 is one of my favorites. Kris made light light sabers, I found a fabulous website with ideas for food and Reese had a great time.

He was so excited he blew the candles out before we finished singing. That is how my Reese is-everything-every emotion he has he gives 100% to it. He loves asking questions (over a million times), he loves telling jokes, learning new things, doing things by himself, he loves animals (with the exception of small dogs?), loves nursery at church, riding his bike, his brother (most of the time), the color red, and so much more. I am so grateful for this fella-can't imagine life without him!

Let's Go Fly a Kite

One of the reasons I love the Hubs.

When he makes a promise to the boys that we'll go fly a kite,

even when there is no wind,

we go and fly a kite.

And we played with a bubble wand (also know as a light saber).

These sweet pictures are enough to make me forget the scene we made leaving the park with two screaming kids, bawling their eyes out.

I Think I Blinked...

When did this little fella....

Grow into this big fella.......

The Reesemiester is about to be three in a week (sigh).

First Fieldtrip

Abram's preschool class went on a end of the year fieldtrip to a children's museum. My awesome friend Lori watched the Reesemiester so that I could go. The funny thing is, I somehow got it into my head that we were going to a different museum and had told Abram so-only to tell him the actual one right before we boarded the bus, surprise! It made no difference to him, all he cared about was riding the school bus.

It was a great day with this crew- (Abram looks terribly enthused about a class picture).

I asked him his favorite part and he said it would have to be the bumpy ride back to school.

Replanting

Spring is here! And we decided to head out to Lowes and brighten up the yard. Apparently geraniums need to be dug up in the winter (whoops). So we bought some more, along with some violas. This year was sooo much different than last year. Last year Reese kept running in the road and was all over the place. This year, he was right in the middle of it.

A neighbor told me last year, she thought that most of our "yard" used to be a flower bed. And since then, HUGE weeds have grown. Reese took it upon himself to start picking them. We started to help.

Now we have a few bald spots. Though I would rather have bald spots than palm trees.

Zoo Trip

Started out innocent enough-going to the zoo with my boys and my nephew. The parking lot was really tight, at one point I held my breath to sqeeze between two trucks with the minivan (that I have had for one week). So I see a large, extra long bed, suped-up truck. And I remember thinking, "Well this thing is sticking so far out, at least no one will hit my car".  So I swung wide and parked until I heard the worst.sound. ever. Started with a screech and then a crunch. I hadn't swung far enough. I almost lost it. you see, I am a careful driver-I mean, I may have a lead foot every now and again-but I am a safe driver and haven't had any driving incident of any sort since I was NINETEEN!

My car

Their bumper (a inch worth of silver paint next to their "My pit bull is smarter than your honor student." bumper sticker. I took a picture in case they wanted me to replace their bumper or something. They never called, and I am grateful for forgiving people.

I was so upset and mad I started tearing up and asked the boys to say a prayer with me. So we did, and I left a note on their windshield with my phone number. I didn't even want to go to the zoo, but I had 3 excited boys who were ready to get their sunscreen on and go see the animals.

I tried to get a tortoise picture, but sometimes boys don't cooperate for such things.

Abram "helping" Isaac pet the bunny.
After visting the table with "artifacts" and Abram quizzing the lady on her animal facts, she said he needed to volunteer at the zoo when he's old enough.
We went to an animal show and a hawk flew maybe 5 inches over Abram's head!

It was a long and fun (except the car) day. The kids asked for a nap when we got home.
