BTW
I don't know why I have uge gaps in my posts sometimes, it really frustrates me-and yes, I am very aware of it. Sorry.
The North Carolina Zoo
Saturday was awesome weather!! The sun was shining, we didn't have to layer-and we decided to go to the zoo. It's about an hour and a half away from us. Most of the animals were out enjoying the sunshine. I'm not going to lie, usually the elephants are by far my favorite-but this visit the harbor seals were being super cute, and kept kissing each other.

(Grizzly Bear-above)
Zebras continue to be Abram's favorite.
(Lemur Island)
I think every time I go to the zoo, no matter which zoo it is, this is always what the male lion is doing-must be nice.
There is also this play area with a bug theme-perfect for kiddos that have been in a car for an hour and a half.
I can't get over how big this zoo is, it's 500 acres of natural habitat! The animals have sooo much room to run and play. Which makes it a little hard to see some of them. There is a North America section and an Africa section, you take a bus (or walk forever) to each. It is a ton of walking. But there are so many animals, it's worth it. We had an amazing day.

Why Every Little Boy Needs a Daddy Who......
...is as enthusiastic about superheroes as much as you are. A Daddy who knows if you use a little imagination, cardboard, and duct tape you can be.......

Kinda Busy
I know, I know, it's been too long. And my kids are going through a "don't take my picture" phase, and let's face it-cute kid pictures are really what everyone wants. So without further suspense, last week we were way busy, in fact so busy that sometimes we just randomly laid down and went to sleep.

Cold? We Don't Need No Stinkin' Cold!
It has been a "wee bit" frigid outside. It stinks because it is just bitter cold-and ice. I mean, if it's going to rain ice-it might as well snow. Snow is pretty, ice is invisible and you just slip and look ridiculous-or really get hurt. We had had enough last Saturday and decided to brave the cold and go to the park and ride bikes. It was REALLY cold, so we all layered up. This is what you find at the park on days like this:
No one except ......
(Note: Abram is wearing my ear warmer because we realized Reese's noggin is a bit too big for his hat, so he is wearing Abram's. Sad-I loved that hat. But I am sure it will look cute on Isaac.)
So we rode bikes for a bit, then had some technical difficulties-so we went for the swings...
(Note: I have a picture of Abram's first time on a swing-not on this computer unfortunately-but it makes me a tad teary to think of that compared to this huge 4 year old swinging here.)

Do you see this mischievous grin? I am in for it with this one, I can already tell. And then he does this sweet one.....
to make you think, maybe I didn't just see that.....
Then we were done being hard core-so we headed home. And got stuck there most of the week because of the weather.

Kris Turns 33
What kind of decorations do you get when you are stuck at home because of ice on the roads, all you have is construction paper, scissors, and glue sticks, and the birthday boy has to use your car because his needs a new clutch??? These kind....
But we worked diligenty (and had some "crayon war" in the mix)..
We made some birthday crowns, had Thai pasta salad, scotcheroos, and Despicable Me.
I'd say the birthday boy had fun. Happy Birthday to the best husband, dad, and friend e-ver!
We. Love. You.

Happy New Year 2011
Someone once told me that your New Year's day would reflect how your year was going to be. That morning I was ready to pack a bag and runaway...seriously.......kinda. EVERYone was so whiny and fussy and screaming. So instead, I decided we should go ride bikes. You see Santa (Nana and Papaw) got Abram a big boy bike for Christmas. Which means, Reese also has a new (to him) bike. We still need to get Reese a helmet, but can I just say these boys LOVE to ride their bikes!!!! They had a grin the ENTIRE time. Where we are in North Carolina there are a lot of greenways. One just happens to run in between two of our favorite parks.
I wish I would have gotten a better picture. But you need to know that boys who ride bikes don't like to stop and pose for pictures. So I had to run ahead of them to get the shots.
Abram looks so big!! I was SO proud of him. He rode like a pro!
And so did this cutie. Reese was riding and ringing the bell! He was so cute and proud of himself. It put us all in a better mood just getting out and having fun together.
So the moral of the story is, if indeed my friend is right, 2011 is going to be tough....and awesome. I'm okay with that.
