This is something my grandma would always say to us, and even though we ignored it, it always turned out to be true. There we would be playing away having the best time, and someone would get hurt, or one of us would get our feelings hurt, or at the moment we would be so tired-we'd break down. Whatever the case may be, Grandma was right and that saying has come into play a lot recently with the mood swings kicking back into gear the last couple weeks of pregnancy. I thought I would share some stories with you as you are on this journey with me, even if it's for entertainment purposes only.
Last night we had the missionaries over for dinner-wait
REWIND- remember when I told you that I am not the "cute just stuffed a basketball up their shirt" looking pregnant ladies? Remember when I told you I was more of a "uncute, bless your heart, stuffed a
TIRE up their shirt" kind of pregnant ladies. And just as an update-I am at the point where everything is too small and tight, I switch between 2 pairs of stretch pants/capris, and my belly-stretch marks and all-hangs out of everything I wear, so I am constantly pulling shirts down and pants up.
Back to the story.
We had the missionaries over for dinner, and I was wearing a t-shirt, it was too tight, I was busting out everywhere and I was making meatball sandwiches so I knew I would spill something on it and change anyway before they got there. So I am making jokes to Kris about how tight my shirt is, and how it would scare the missionaries out of ever having children etc etc. We were laughing it up. And then I went to change, when I came back we were talking and Kris was about to go and pick up the missionaries and says to me in all seriousness "Don't forget to change." I just stared at him............suddenly it wasn't funny anymore, and when he left I cried.....stupid shirts, stupid hormones.
We have a restaurant in town that is a Japanese Hibachi grill that does carry out as well as dining in. I decided I needed some Saturday. It's in a little shopping strip next to a Rent-A-Center. That being said, I was carrying our dinner out to the car, capris falling down, shirt riding up, belly sticking out, but no hands to do what was needed because I was carrying the food. There was a man loading a truck about 10 car spaces from where I was, and he did a
VERY OBVIOUS double take, and on the double-he stopped and stared. (Did I mention that the filter that goes from my brain to my mouth has also been wearing thin?) To which I replied "That's right buddy! Take it
ALL in!!! Big and beautiful!" ......weirdo.
I seem to forget how hard the last couple weeks are, I am not sleeping, feeling enormous, having mood swings and feeling I need to be checked in to a mental hospital or everyone I come in contact with should be, but one thing I am absolutely sure of, that all of this is completely, one million percent worth it.
