Are YOU lookin' at ME?

I'm SO in Trouble......

I am the one who stands firm in disciplining our children. No big blue eyes, no crocodile tears, no manipulation or bargaining can phase me.......until he came along. Not sure how I feel about this, he melts me in .58 seconds flat.

9 Years and a Trip to the Hospital..........

Yesterday was our 9 year anniversary!! And they said it wouldn't last, just kidding honey! But seriously, nine years, that's like almost a decade-almost double digits, just saying it out loud makes me feel old, bizarre. Anyhoo-so we decided to go on a date-this is a rarity for us because we move around so much, and by the time we trust people enough to watch the kiddos, we have to move. A family that we love, love, love watched the kids and the plan was simple. We were going to go for a walk and get some ice cream. Simple enough right? We drop the kiddos off, and headed for the park-

that's about the time the clouds came rolling in. The big dark ones, then the lightening, and the thunder, then the lightening that touches the ground in the distance, then the rain-the torrential down pour. We could barely see, so we decided to pull over and go to a restaurant. I am not kidding when I say that it was raining so hard and the wind was blowing so hard that the restaurant door wouldn't shut, and as Kris parked the car, I looked like a total moron trying to pull the door closed while getting drenched. Kris and I get in, totally soaked into the restaurant to discover we are completely under dressed in our sweats (wet sweats).

Of course as we sit down to order the sun comes out (the storm lasted 10 minutes) and we are the sopping wet "cool rangers". We ate, it was delicious, and went to Kroger to get some groceries, and picked up the kiddos. Abram didn't want to leave, Reese didn't want to stay (he was missing his Mama), and we headed home very grateful for our friends.

Then we realized something....

We left Obi outside. Obi, is not a fan of storms to say the least. I mean, he doesn't pull a "Marley and Me" kind of fit. Storms just make him very nervous, where he paces, and is super clingy. Obi survived, except that somehow he cut his leg really deep. He was bleeding, so we cleaned off his wound, bandaged him up and decided to call the vet asap. Obi went to the hospital today, to make a long story short (too late) we opted out of surgery and decided to do the medication, cleaning wounds and bandages route. Bless his heart-he hates the stupid big cone. Here is the picture of the poor puppy:

I asked Kris how he did even though I had called to check on him (they kept him all day) and Kris said he got lots of compliments-and Obi enjoyed all of the attention. Our life is never boring.

9 years down, forever to go.

Let's Get Spiritual

I know, I mean I have slacked off blogging and today I am on fire! On Monday nights our family gets together and has Family Home Evening. We sing songs, have a lesson, play a game, and have a treat. Tonight's lesson? David and Goliath. Now remember, this story from the Bible was made into a 2 1/2 year old version....with that, I am giving you the "2 year old very summarized version" with pictures (of course).

A long, long, long, long, long time ago there was a battle between the Israelites and the Philistines. In this battle there was a big, mean giant named Goliath...

the Israelites were very afraid of him.....(so scared you could see their fillings apparently)

Goliath went out day after day wanting to know who would fight him. Everyone was so scared that no one would meet him for battle.

Then, there was David.....

He was tending the sheep, and then went to go check on his brothers. David was very faithful and brave. When he saw Goliath, he went forth to battle. Goliath seeing this small boy laughed....

David picked up some stones (in this case frozen peas) and his sling (or spoon) and flung the rocks (peas) at him.

David had defeated Goliath, and cut off his head...

We then wrapped our evening talking being brave and having faith and then ate some chocolate pie. I love family home evening.

One of "Those" People......

I am one of those people who is a little obsessed with checking other people's blogs. I believe I have mentioned this before. I am also one of those people who gets really irritated when your blog hasn't been updated in a while...uhhh yahhh. SO here is the thing, you know that annoying saying, "When you point your finger at someone, you have 3 fingers pointing back at you." I guess that applies. So here is a tale of this past weekend. On Saturday we went to Tennessee. Kris and I have a feeling that when we move again, that it will be a bit longer than a 2 1/2 hour drive, so in the next month or so we should be going home and seeing the fam more often.

That being said, we tried to cram a little too much fun in one day. We tried to meet some friends at the Bounce House-got there way too late, played for 20 minutes before it closed.....and someone had a meltdown. Tried to make up for it by going to Chick-fil-a for lunch where someone refused to eat chicken, so we left instead of playing.....another meltdown. Again, sorry Amber and Erin!! Got to Nana's house, someone took a nap, and the world was a little bit brighter.

In fact, there was some corn shucking....

and some raw corn eating....

some resting....

some visiting with the Great Grandparents....

We went to Target before heading home and the Marble Slab (which had the worst customer service ever) and started on our journey home. Reese started to get hungry, Abram got sick of being in the car, when this happened....

I don't know what happened, all I do know is that all traffic on I 75 had to exit, and be re routed through a town the same name as ours, except in a different state. We were in the boon docks where you could hear the banjos playing (if you know what I mean) and it was too late/dark to pull over. That meant a lot of crying for the half hour detour.

Despite the rough patches at the beginning and end of our trip, we still had fun. Oh and

P.S. Guess who got a Bumbo seat? (and still is like a deer in headlights when the camera comes out, I swear he does smile and is the cutest)

Have you.......

seen this movie?

yah, I have seen it before, I watched it again today and I am still crying.

Almost Got My Passport This Morning...............

You would only understand the title if you have ever read this book.....

If haven't read this book, go to the library today and get it, I am not kidding, one of my favorites. We had some friends over last night, it was a late night-should have been my first clue. After several meltdowns, we got the kiddos to bed over an hour past their bedtimes. Although I love the fact that my children all of the sudden take turns-I didn't quite appreciate the fact that they decided to start doing this last night all night long, while playing the newly made up "Who can scream the loudest to wake themselves up" game. Especially after a week of Reese sleeping 7 continuous hours. I had a horrible nightmare last night, the kind where when Kris woke me up, I didn't know whether to cry because I was relieved, or cry because I was so intensely asleep I got an immediate headache. Reese decided to be an early bird this morning, and Abram soon followed. As I was getting Abram a pair of underwear, I guess he had a "fart gone bad" as there was a small batch of diarrhea on the floor 5 feet from his potty.....awesome. Did I mention this was all before 7:30 am??? I thought, someone find me the nearest cliff, as I poured Abram's cereal while I was wearing my too tight for me black sweat pants, river rescue t-shirt from 5 years ago, no make up, hair-just plain ridiculous, when Abram looks at me and says, "Mommy, you look beeeeaauuuuutiful!" I just looked at him, and smiled............

Maybe I won't be getting that passport just yet.
