I am defiant, I know this. I think it's the redheadedness. So I had been told to wait until Abram was two for peanut butter by my former pediatrician. My current pediatrician kinda said to go for it. So I weighed my options, had out the benadryl just in case, and let him try it a couple days ago. Today is a day marked in history, his first peanut butter sandwich!
Some of you know her as "Little Red Riding Hood", but around here she is Abram's girlfriend. Maybe I need to rewind. A year or so ago I was in Sam's and sometimes they have really cool stuff for toddlers. This was one of those days. It's a soft book with finger puppets in it, the story is Little Red Riding Hood. Within the past few months, this is one of Abram's favorite stories. When we first started reading it, I (naturally) was Little Red. Everytime we would begin the story and I would talk in LRR's voice and explain to Abram that we needed to take a cake to Grandma's house, and he would give her a kiss (several times, it was really cute). And months later he STILL kisses her at the beginning of the story, EVERYtime we read it. Kris is not very good at telling the story, b/c in this version (TODDLER) the wolf "runs away and never bothers anyone again" and Kris tells Abram that isn't really what happened. Well, after a playgroup a couple weeks ago at my house, the Grandma finger puppet is MIA. Maybe the wolf was tired of the "goody goody" version and decided to play out Kris's version instead.
I know that this picture is blurry, but I was caught off guard. You see, my cute little muffin sometimes spontaneously comes up and hugs my leg and then giggles and runs away. Yep, it melts my heart a little. 14 days to go Drea-we can do it!
My friend Terri got "Abram" this..... SO tonight "Abram" got to try it out. There was some stretching so they could learn all the right moves. Let's just say, I think the neighborhood is safe, at least from Venom...
We never said we had to "take" the pics and post, we just said we had to post pics everyday for 30 days right? So maybe I am cheating, but I am tired and I have been yelling at my internet connection for over an hour to connect.....and that leads me to a little inside joke between Kris and I that I am about to let you in on. One of my ALL TIME FAVORITEST MOVIES EVER is.....
And one of the funniest parts is when the "Boy George" character is being booed and some guy yells in a burley voice "YOU SUUUUUCK!" One day when we were in Georgia, Kris was on the phone and he was put on hold for a very, very, long time. We were ridiculously tired-you know when everything is funny- and I said maybe you should yell when he gets back on the phone "YOU SUUUUUUUCK!". And that was it, from then on, whenever someone was being stupid, or we started to complain, we would yell it like this guy. So tonight I have been yelling "Charter, you SUUUUUUCK!" And on a totally random note, my Grandma always yelled at me when I would say that word and say it was a "bad word", so -sorry Grandma, I hope you don't read this blog entry
p.s. It's the second guy that yells it, and then the video gets warped and sounds scary, so beware.
I am posting my Saturday pic at little early (but not that early because it's after midnight here now and my blog posting times are never right). But I am posting this because I have to get up at: in order to get to the alumni retreat on time. Actually I should get up before, but I am trying to get as much done as possible, since I have to get up in 4 hours, yikes!
I used to work there (www.peninsulavillage.org) as an Activity Therapist for the Boys Program. I absolutely loved it. Before becoming a mother, it was the hardest and most rewarding thing I had ever done. I still keep in contact with some of the kids I worked with. This weekend I am going back for an alumni retreat. It is one weekend a year that all of the former kids who are doing well come back and get to catch up, while sharing their stories with current patients
